Evingston was originally founded in 1902 and Evingston Academy in 1910 by the wealthy architect and fashion mogul, Nigel Evingston. Evingston Academy was originally for only the people who could buy their way in, and, trust me, it still is, but recently it's been opened to scholarship students, and started to slowly fill up with outcasts and not-so-wealthy people. Since then, it's become an all-out class war. If you're wealthy, you stay with your kind. If you're poor, you stick with your kind. If you're middle class...well, bless your soul, you've got a lot of deciding to do. On top of all that, Evingston is your average high school with cliques, drugs, and lots and lots of gossip. But it can get more violent than that. There are some who aren't afraid to shed blood. And some who aren't afraid to taint perfection. You've got plenty to hide, especially if you're ELITE PERFECTION.

EMMA THE FASHION QUEEN
Emma grew up around fashion and a good fashion sense has always been in her blood. Fashion is her ‘thing’, if that’s the way you want to put it, and she’s devoted a good amount of her time to developing her own personal style. You could get different people to try to label Emma based on her stile, but it would be no easy feat. A high-society mistress might say she was a disgrace and an outrage. They’d say she dressed too ‘grunge’ or ‘indie’ for their tastes. A blue-collar working-class female might say she was the epitome of classy sophistication. It all really depended on whom you asked and what their taste was, but generally, yes, Emma does like to stand out, but not in a bad way. Emma especially loves the look of coats and hats. She owns countless peacoats, trenches, cropped jackets, and more, in just about any color you could think of. One of her favorites is a feminine full-skirt double-breasted trench, of which she owns three in three different colors: red, black, and khaki. She tends to wear a lot of red because she looks stunning in it, but violet (the color of royalty), black, gray, brown, blue, and green are some of her other favorites. She also has the type of face that looks good in hats, her favorite hat being a pinstriped fedora she picked up at a vintage store one day. She understands that fashion is about versatility, not insanity, so she won’t pay insanely high prices unless the item is going to be worn by her at least a million times. She owns a couple little black dresses, and countless pairs of boots, because she knows that those are versatile and she can use them for college interviews or even going out with her friends. Emma likes to call her style grunge sophisticate because that kind of describes how she likes to look classy with a touch of rocker. She doesn’t like it when people copy her style, but she really doesn’t have to worry about it because it’s nothing anyone wants to mimic all that badly.

THE MANY FACES OF EMMA
All right, well, maybe she only has one face, but that doesn’t make it any less attractive. Emma has a round-to-heart-shaped face, making her look young and cute, but she adds a little bit of makeup, and poof! Instant sex kitten. Emma’s lips are full, a bit like Angelina Jolie’s, and she considers them her best facial feature by far. She often likes to coat them with her signature sultry red lipstick. Most people wouldn’t be able to pull that off, but Emma is able to, mainly because of her lips and just because she knows how. The secret is to not wear any other makeup besides a light coat of mascara, unless you’re going for a very mod look in which case you’ll draw a winged black line across your top lashes with liquid eyeliner, but that’s beside the point. Emma’s skin is pale, but she’d rather keep it that way than fake-bake and look disgustingly false and get skin cancer or paint herself tan and turn orange. She doesn’t even like the look of tan skin anyway, so she’s very glad she’s pale, thank you very much. She does have some color, though. She’s not one of those milk-white albino deals. Her cheeks usually have a healthy pink glow to them, making her look radiant even when she’s not wearing makeup.

THE MAKE AND MODEL
When Emma was younger, she felt very self-conscious about being built more muscular, because in her eyes, girls were supposed to be small and delicate. Yeah, right. Looking back, she feels embarrassed about what she thought previously and has learned to love her strong frame. Emma now feels blessed that her hips are thin and narrow instead of huge. However, when Emma was in middle school, she was kind of chubby. After eighth grade she’d had enough, and had worked all summer to work off all her extra weight and keep it off. It’s hard, since genetically she’s made to carry her weight in her stomach, and fighting genetics is no easy feat. She now eats like a health freak (except for a few occasional indulgences) but really doesn’t act like one, because she doesn’t really want to stop smoking. She smokes all-natural nicotine-free cigarettes, so she’s not addicted, she just really doesn’t want to stop. It’s not a matter of peer pressure, as many people would blame it on, she just likes the feeling of being calm and the familiarity of it all. Emma doesn’t mind change, unless it’s not the way she wants it, in which case she’ll get pissed and huffy, but familiarity is always comforting to anyone, even high-class formerly fat fashion queens.

THE LOCKS & WINDOWS TO THE SOUL
Emma is especially proud of her hair, as any girl with nice hair is, or should be. Her hair is long and reaches to about her armpits. It’s a pleasant dark brown shade, with side swept bangs that frame her face nicely. She gets them cut quite often so they don’t grow too long. It is said that eyes are the windows to the soul, and if that is true, Emma’s soul must be on some sort of drug. Her eyes are the most stunning shade of blue and that is fairly uncommon paired with dark hair and pale skin, making Emma a beautiful rare gem. She loves her hair, but would never be caught dead wearing some dumb shirt that says ‘brunettes do it better’ or some stupid crap like that. We already discussed this; Emma’s much classier than that. Her hair has a slight wave to it, giving it volume without tangle, which she’s very thankful for. Since Emma is such an average height, at five-foot-seven, let’s just say that her natural good looks and fashion sense help her stand out as much as she’d like to without having to dance on tables or take her clothes off, as many girls like to do to get attention. Tsk, tsk. They only wish they were Emma.

In-Depth:

EMMA THE ARTIST
Emma, as many others before her, first discovered painting when she was in pre-school. She was the kid that always spent forever at the easel at the art station and made other kids cry because they didn’t get a turn. At least she wasn’t the kid who smelled like piss. Everyone always hates that kid. In all honesty, though, Emma never really stopped painting even after the teachers forced her to give the other kids a turn. She used to paint stick figures, but now she’s gradually evolved into doing more abstract art, not so much blobs and shapes, but surrealism and things the way you wouldn’t expect them or they’re not supposed to be. Her mind is slightly wobbly, but that always makes for a good artist, no? When she was thirteen, her art teacher got her into photography and sculpture, as two other ways to channel her abstract thoughts and ability. She’s found many a joyful afternoon in trying to perfect her own brand of Dadaism by fusing useless crap together to make a bigger picture, which is generally her outlook on life. Emma also enjoys photography and taking ‘artsy pictures’ of herself and others, though that’s really become a commonplace thing so she’s not so much interested in it anymore as she is sculpting. She continues to paint, but sculptures are her primary form of expression these days. That, and words. Emma’s not so much of a poetry person as she is just a writer. She doesn’t really dig the ‘deep poetry’ or anything that uses big words that are meaningless to everyone but just sound good. When Emma writes, she usually channels her sarcastic and satirical and sometimes even absurdist senses of humor to come out with a dry piece that not many people would consider good writing, but the ones who do find it simply irresistible, just like Emma herself.

EMMA THE COMEDIAN
Emma, even as a young kid, has always been able to make adults laugh. Her sense of humor is full of satire and wit and even things so absurd that you have to laugh in a ‘who the hell comes up with this stuff?’ kind of sense, even if you don’t think the actual joke is all that funny. Emma is good at channeling her dry sense of humor into her writing, even though most people tend to think that ‘good writing’ involves absurdly big words and depressing sequences about crying and ravens and whatnot. Emma truly believes that the best comedy is all improvised because when people take a long time planning out what they’re going to say, it’s just never as funny as it is if they are making it up as they go along, because when they do come up with something genuinely hilarious, it’s organic and new and beautiful, instead of routine. She started the improvisational comedy and acting club at her school because it may be her passion, even more than sculpting, but perhaps not as much as writing. She thinks that someday she may use her writing skills to write sketch comedy, but for now, improv keeps her perfectly happy.

EMMA THE HIGH-SOCIETY PARTY ANIMAL
Emma has always grown up around the wealthy and beautiful, so it’s hard for her not to join in on the fun. Her parents will host grand events and galas, and Emma’s always one to be downing champagne, eating the expensive catered food, and getting down and dirty with guys much older than her. Her brother and step-brother really wouldn’t like to see that happen, so they tend to be extremely protective of Emma, but they let her have her fun. Emma has recently accepted that her personality probably scares people off, so she’s going to be single for a long time. Previously, this has made her want to spend her weekend nights at home, watching bad t.v. and playing online dungeon games. (Yes, really.) In the past few years, however, Emma has realized that she can’t spend her life like this and there’s no way she’s going to meet people unless she goes and puts herself out there for the masses. It’s kind of hard to believe that Emma had extremely low self-confidence and couldn’t appreciate herself until recently, but it’s true, and she looks back in shame on it now. But with her new confidence boost, she’s not going to let that, or anything, for that matter, get her down. That’s why now you can see Emma dancing at the newest clubs, sampling food at the hottest new restaurants, and basically plastering herself around the society section of the newspaper.

EMMA THE INDIE ROCKER
Even though Emma is a high-society girl and should be listening to jazz or classical or opera or even dance music, Emma’s true favorite is indie rock and indie pop. And she can’t resist an indie concert, either. They’re much more fun, because they’re usually held in obscure places like churches or outside the library, instead of the local concert hall like your average sold-out emo show where everyone stands around and looks sad. Or worse, your scene-screamo show, where everyone looks fake and exactly the same. Gross. Emma used to go to a lot of shows back in Stratford, and continues to now that she’s moved to the states. Even if they are more ‘mainstream’ than those scenester bands, indie music is always so much better as a sound and everything. The guys in indie bands, too, are just incredible, because they know how to channel their inner geek. It may be left over from her days as a dungeon master, but Emma can’t resist geeks and their just overall adorability. But we’ll get to that later. Basically, her love for indie rock and geeky boys has bumped Emma down from elite-class to just average, one of the artsy and indie folks at her school, but that doesn’t bother her one bit. She’d clearly rather be with people who appreciate good music and the geek boys themselves than a bunch of stuck-up girls.

EMMA THE GIRLFRIEND
To be honest, Emma doesn’t actually know how she’d be as a girlfriend, because, truth be told, she’s never been in a real relationship. She’s had a fling or two, but those usually lasted a week or so, ending in bad feelings and all-around awkwardness. However, Emma would like to think that she’d make a great girlfriend to whatever lucky geek has the guts to ask her out. It’s not that Emma is old-fashioned, she’s just been rejected so many times that she doesn’t want to risk asking anyone out again. Plus, it’s just kind of an awkward question. She would always rather date a geek than a jerk, because geeks just have that awkward cuteness to them. She really wouldn’t care if they were absurdly skinny (lovely) or little chubsters (awww…) or if they had dimples (preferably, actually) or if they were completely hilarious but couldn’t dance for beans (a requirement, actually) or if they played dungeon games (that’s so tight) or if they stayed home on Friday nights to play guitar here and listened to Slayer. In fact, if they were all those things, that would make the ideal boyfriend for Emma. Except the skinny and fat part. You can’t be skinny and fat at the same time. So really, Emma would prefer the chubster, just because chubby nerds are always adorable.

EMMA: THE TRUTH
Emma probably comes off as one of those crusty-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside deals, but she’s really not. In fact, she’s barely soft on the inside at all, except when it comes to cute things like baby animals and nerds. She usually uses her sarcastic demeanor as a shell to hide her feelings, even though she may come off as a bit of a bitch. And it’s not that she has a lot to hide, it’s just that she hates expression of emotion, especially if it’s worry or sadness or anything that would make one seem vulnerable. That’s why Emma can’t stand crying in public, or being around people who are crying, especially when you’re expected to comfort them or something like that. How are you supposed to do that, anyway? Emotion basically scares Emma away, so people tend to assume she’s really hard and unfeeling, but truth be told, Emma does have feelings, she just doesn’t like to share them. When she does have something to ponder, she thinks about it alone in the bath or over cappuccino or something, not with other people. Why share what you can keep to yourself? Besides, it’s not like anything anyone says around here is going to stay secret.

In-Depth:

AGE 0
Emma was born on the seventh of April in a hospital in Scotland. She was a happy baby, usually sleeping full nights and not causing her family much trouble. She was never much of a crier, perhaps the roots of her lack of emotional expression now, perchance? At any rate, Emma was a beautiful dark-haired baby who was the apple of her mother’s eye…even though her mother was only sixteen. Emma’s glad now that she looks almost exactly like her mother, because she’d rather not look like her real father, her mom’s high-school lover who left the country after Emma was born. What a great guy. Still, Emma’s mom left her with her grandparents while she went to college so her daughter could have a good life when she was older.

AGES 2-5
Up until Emma was five, she lived with her grandma and grandpa while her mom went to university to become an English teacher. She was an energetic toddler who liked to watch cartoons on Saturday mornings and play pretend. She usually only got to see her mom when she was on break or during the summer holiday, and now people would consider that abandoning a child, but Emma’s mom loved Emma so much that she had to give her up for five years so she could have a better life in the future. All of Emma’s mom’s hard work paid off, because once she graduated she got a job as a literature teacher in Stratford, England, so she packed up Emma and moved out of her parents’ house for good, even though they both still like to visit Nana and Pop. But Emma still had another surprise waiting for her: her mom had adopted a seven-year-old boy from an orphanage nearby, since Emma had always wanted a sibling. The boys’ name was Scott, and he and Emma proved to be the most hard-core troublemaking tag-team of not quite siblings the world had ever seen.

AGES 6-10
Emma attended primary school in Stratford, near the boarding school where her mom taught. In primary school, she proved to be an exceptionally bright child, and her mother’s daughter indeed when it came to writing. She was best at vocabulary words and spelling, surpassing her classmates. She always struggled in math, however, and continues to struggle now. The fact that there always had to be one right answer in math bothered Emma and made her wonder who invented math and how they could be so cruel. Her poor performance in math was one of the things keeping her from being accepted into the gifted program, but that was usually reserved for Asian people, anyway. When Emma was eight, her mom introduced her to field hockey, a sport she had played in high school and university, and Emma enjoyed it somewhat, even though she wasn’t very good. Emma was still slightly chubby at this point, and not a very fast runner. She knew though, that eventually she’d be good enough to play on her school’s team when she went to the boarding school her mom taught at.

AGES 11-13
When Emma started secondary school at the school her mom taught at, she often felt inferior to the other girls because they all had boyfriends. Emma never really understood the concept of ‘boyfriends’ and wasn’t really sure why holding hands in the hallway and ‘liking’ each other constituted a relationship, but she still had an inferiority complex and this was the time when she discovered online dungeon games and improv comedy from shows she watched on television. Being in the lower school, she was still too young to play field hockey, but did pick up another sport from the local recreational center: lacrosse. Since Emma still wasn’t much of a runner, she took up the position of goalie, much to her overprotective mother and brother’s dismay. It was a dangerous position, so her family members encouraged her to go and get good at running so she’d be able to play other positions when she tried out for the team the following spring. Emma took their advice and ended up losing twenty-five pounds and gaining a load of self-confidence in the process. She was excited to play field hockey in the autumn and lacrosse in the spring, but…

AGE 14 - PRESENT
Sadly, that never happened. Over the summer holidays that year, Emma’s mom traveled to the states and fell in love with a man who she became betrothed to in the two months that she was gone. So goodbye England and hello America, because she packed up Scott and Emma and moved them to the United States. They felt awkward because they still had their accents, but most people found it kind of cool. Emma made a couple of friends her freshman year of high school and still has her accent two years later. Since she hasn’t lost it, she’s sure she’s never going to, and that makes her very proud. She usually travels back to Scotland for the holidays to see her grandparents, so she keeps connected to her roots. However, there was another surprise waiting for her when she got to the States: Alexander von Williamsburg, the man her mother was engaged to, had a sixteen-year-old kind of creepy son by the name of Sam. Emma was weary toward him at first, but since Scott and Sam were the same age, Emma eventually learned to deal with and even become friends with her new stepbrother. Alexander was nice, and the closest thing she’d ever had to a father besides her grandfather, so she took to him instantly and they become one big happy family that autumn. Her mother kept the last name of Radley, and Alexander von Williamsburg, against society’s expectations, changed his last name to Radley, just to show how much he loved his wife and wanted to keep their family name. Sam stayed a von Williamsburg, but you can’t really blame him. Emma soon found out that her mother and Alexander were pregnant with a baby girl, and they had her and named her Bella. Currently, Bella is seven months old.

FUTURE
Emma has plenty of expectations for the future, and hopes to go to Brown to get an English degree, because her mother taught her that an English degree is an extremely useful thing to have. If she decides not to do that, she’d like to get a degree in art education at Bard College in New York. She hopes for all these things, but doesn’t know if they’ll come true, because who can anticipate the future? Emma continues to keep her British accent, and play lacrosse (she’s still keeper) and field hockey for her school, as she finally made the team. Emma doesn’t know what her future holds, but neither does anyone else, so she’ll just have to take it one day at a time.

Other: naw.
